Feeling Efforts Arise to Regulate
Have you ever been caught up in uncertainty and felt your senses rise to be on guard? As you are feeling scared of the outcome, do you notice how your mind starts planning and you feel charged to resolve the issue? After the fearful situation is complete, do you take time to reflect on how you got worked up to face the issue and that through it you got to connect to what you knew to handle the issue?
As I was feeling fearful (and motivated) to face a current issue, my friend advised me to feel the fear and let my light overcome it. This inspired me to look into what fear is to me. Fear is a motivator in my life and my experience with it tells me that I’m about to learn something valuable about myself when I can admit feeling fearful and not knowing what's going on. Looking back on episodes of fear, they’ve always been situations that get me to be more conscious of the situation, get ready to place an effort when necessary and moderate my feelings so that my mind is clear to face what comes. The anxious charge prepares me for my growth.
After living a life with seizures where uncertainty had to be accepted as a regularity, fear is my indicator to stay mindful, attach to nothing particular, review my purpose and let life play out. Fear isn’t something to resist, it is a feeling to embrace and walk with.
Next time you sense yourself getting anxious, slow yourself down to recognize what's going on, acknowledge how you feel without determining the situation, review your purpose and open yourself up to be guided through the experience. Keep trusting that you're being cared for, no matter how it feels in the moment. Be patient and respect that the process must play out before you can know.
