If You're Afraid, Start Planning

Have you ever been prepared to do something and suddenly felt fears creeping in and creating doubts? Did the fearful doubts prevent you from going forward or did you decide to face it head-on?

Fears and doubts are natural human experiences. It could be rooted in past experiences or because you're unwell in the moment, whatever the reason you can face it before it becomes real (if it will at all). When seizures were a part of daily life, my life was filled with planning for the unexpected and when I caught myself believing in the fears, I'd stop myself before it consumed me and start planning.

Fear has a way of manifesting the future before even knowing why if we choose to listen to it. When I felt fear turn away from what I believed in, I knew it was time to skip ahead and create what I wanted by pretending that the worst happened and deciding what I'd do from there. This became the way to distract my mind from fear and take charge of the situation. I gave myself room to explore every possibility and then concentrated on the solution I believed in most. This helped to shape my reaction so, should it happen, I would know what to do and feel confident rather than helpless.

In every moment of fear, we have the choice to believe in them (which feeds them to be more real) or choose to understand and conquer them. Either way, we must remain aware that what we are fearing is not yet reality and our choice will determine what the experience will mean to us.
