With an aspiration to help others and uncover knowledge in psychology, they imagined that they must present a knowledgeable front with confidence in order to be heard. They worked to be prepared to answer any opposition that could arise against the new theory so that the uncertain topic would be given consideration.
They were known for being confident, courageous with their discoveries and determined to find proof for their case. They seemed flawless entering a meeting with their folders of information and organized slides that they seamlessly incorporated into their presentation. It was easy to trust in their vision and wonder how they pulled it all together.
After a presentation, they walked away while mentally detaching their self from the project. They let the jitters fade as they admitted that they had no idea where the project would head. They wanted success but was now the right time for it?
As they admitted that presenting was a way of relinquishing control and handing it over to the group, they felt lighter knowing that they had done their part. The confident and organized determination they mustered for the group was necessary for them to loosen their hold on the project. In handing over their files, they gave away what was theirs to let it grow into more. The company they worked for was not about them alone, it was composed of various visions and talents that had the potential to grow bigger. While looking like they were in control helped others to assume control, it was in relinquishing control that they helped encourage the group's success.
In Life, we take on roles to achieve a purpose and what gets assumed of that role is easily a misinterpretation as life changes. What is one thing in one moment will change and a single role could serve multiple needs. There is no reason to take on one role and assume that we know what it's for. It matters most that we contribute our best, let life happen and reflect on our roles after. It's okay to let the meaning evolve with us.
