Disability is Not a Definition

When ‘disability’ is a perception I am having in a moment, whether due to uncertainty, self-consciousness or dealing with a new ailment, it's a personal responsibility to uncover the root of my concern, apply my knowledge and find my understanding of what the situation means. Even if it is something that is beyond my control, I have the right to discover it, grow with it and determine what it means to me.

It is important to acknowledge what is within my ability at every moment. Any changes that alter what I once could do, I will find a solution for. What is not within my ability doesn't take away from who I am. Asking for help is an opportunity to include people who are capable, utilize available resources and shift my role accordingly to the situation. By not resisting what is not meant for me and not allowing emotions to consume me, I move on as I am able, experience something different and flow with the process. In admitting what I am not able to do, I choose to move on to develop other abilities. Where I lack in one area, I may excel in another and I choose to enjoy growing with the discoveries.
