Within My Package

When I realized that I had wrapped my past in a bundle within,
I wanted to forget it, move on and let it be.
My focus shifted to what lay beyond,
Tempting me to forget the significance held within my package.
The past bundle holds what I've overlooked.
It is the opportunity for me to recognize what I've been holding onto,
Take notice of what I have fearfully avoided.
I know that I am ready to accept the significance held within my package.
Opening it helps me to recognize what I survived.
I can embrace and never forget the strength I carried independently,
Focus on who I am and my purpose connectively.
I can be at peace with the significance within my package.
What I have been through isn't meant to be forgotten, it's a part of who I am. I wanted to move on and never have to remember my hardships but that would lead me to forget significant details of who I am. When I am brave enough to examine my past, I recognize who I was and how I came to be. Taking notice of the pain and emotions I avoided helps me to understand who I am and where I am headed. I wouldn't be drawn to embrace myself if I wasn't ready to see who I am. Uncovering the layers of my past, I recognize what I have been through and how I survived. I can embrace my weakness to acknowledge my strength. I can own my independence and focus on my purpose in the world. I can move forward, face what comes and be at peace.
