Let Acceptance and Growth Reflect Your Dignity

Dignity, personal responsibility.

When the circumstances are beyond one’s control;

When what’s wanted and what’s done is all that they are.

The choices made are reflecting integrity.

Patience and sovereignty will leave no harming scars;

Seek freedom from what is disliked, regain control.

Let acceptance and growth reflect your dignity.

This poem is a reflection of why I used a calm, indifferent manner in my seizure recovery and continue to use it in unexpected situations. When circumstances are beyond my control, I must focus on what I want overall and own my choices. When circumstances challenge me with what I don’t want or like, what I choose to think, feel and do affects how it proceeds. It's a reminder that my choices are all that must be the concern at the moment. What I decide affects the circumstance and reflects my character. Choosing to work patiently on an inner sovereignty leaves no harming scars. I decide to let go of what isn’t liked to understand more and regain control. Accepting what is and allowing growth is a reflection of dignity.

My life with seizures left me with questionable control and the best way for me to regain control of myself and the situation was to concentrate on calmness and drop opposing feelings in the moment to conduct myself how I wanted what was around me to be. Fearful panic was a distraction while trying to regain consciousness and I had to avoid it as best I could to return to who I am and move on from the situation. Calm indifference helped me to focus on myself and detach from the situation to concentrate on what I needed at the moment.
