Judgments are Only a Scratch

Have you ever caught yourself reacting to a situation that you didn't quite understand? Did you notice feeling against it and hearing reasons in your mind that justified how you felt? Looking back, do you agree with how your reaction led you to judge without understanding? Though what happened in the past is behind you, let's take a closer look at how we can improve our reactive judgmental tendencies.

The next time you feel yourself reacting to a situation, catch yourself and acknowledge what you think and feel. If you don't yet understand the situation, treat your reaction as a scratch on the surface of what you're being led to understand. Accepting that you're about to learn, let go of any personal associations you may have made to remain open for learning.

Once your mind is set on learning, step back from the situation to get a better view so you can observe it. Let yourself experience what happens without determining a conclusion, staying mindful of the shifts the situation will take. Let your mind be formless in your observations so the scratches can be made to reveal the truth.

When you feel a sense of understanding, you can be at peace with what you were guided to learn and know how to wield your abilities to flow with the situation. Be happy that you chose to face uncertainty without letting judgments separate you from the experience.
