It Starts with an Inspiration

“The air is full of ideas. They are knocking you in the head all of the time. You only have to know what you want, then forget it, and go about your business. Suddenly, the idea will come through, it was there all the time.” -Henry Ford

Some call it an idea, it can be called a motivation or influence and I call it an inspiration. I believe everything starts with inspiration. An inspiration is anything that sparks my interest and gives me purpose to discover.

My life taught me that when you know what you want and are willing to be who you are, the world will subtly guide you to where you're meant to be. The dream you started could've begun when you weren't ready to trust it but if it's what you want, it sticks with you and similar inspirations knock to assist your journey. There will be times when the inspiration must be put aside to face reality and then, when it's time, it starts knocking again. It doesn't have to be your primary focus but you can be grateful when you hear its knock. Without realizing all that you've been through or what exactly you were working on, you look back and recognize that your inspiration formed for you and it was with you the whole time.

When I was a teenager with epilepsy, I wanted to share my poetry and bring light to ordinary blessings. At the time, I didn't think I had much chance in the world but I figured I'd give it my all so I'd be ready when my time came. I pursued anything that I thought could help with the dream and I let the inspiration guide me without expecting results.

I wrote poetry and researched Life, thinking to make my place but my chances dimmed as I aged. After my epilepsy was resolved, my hope for my dream died down but I couldn't let it go. When I decided to organize my work for closure, I realized the abundance of work that lay before me. Suddenly, as I worked to leave my past behind, I was introduced to the inspiration awaiting me. I could share my poetry and bring light to ordinary blessings. The road may never be clear but knowing what I work for gives me reason to keep listening to the knocks of inspiration that help me build my dream. It will continue to evolve for now but I can believe in the chance I have and make my inspiration sprout into the blossom it's meant to be.
