Empty but Full as Is
It sat alone on its platform, empty and wanting to be filled. It knew it could hold a lot. Without help, it remained empty but it could remember the many things it held.
It had been spun at the start of its existence. Slowly shaped into a vessel that could hold. It was placed into the fire and burned until it knew its form. It eventually cooled and was painted with character. Its color and texture gave personality to what it was and its companion valued it for what it offered.
Though this mug often sat alone, it was versatile in taking and holding heated and cooled liquids. It held its shape and offered help within its capabilities, bringing happiness to those it interacted with. It had times of joining other vessels and times alone on a platform let it be what it was in peace.
Reflective Qs:
Though it appears alone, what do you think of all it went through to be what it is?
For something that’s easily taken for granted, what do you think about all that it goes through?
Do you remember everything you do and all you’ve been through when you are alone?
Author’s Note: I was thinking about the concept of loneliness and I imagined a mug sitting on a coaster. I wanted to bring out the experience the mug goes through to be what it is and exemplify how being alone at times doesn’t affect what it is or change anything about it.
