A Desire for Completion
There's a desire calling for completion but the endeavor has never been ventured before. A recipe sits, waiting for exploration but doubt of success prevents the attempt. Thoughts wander to other people who successfully achieved this task and comparisons sprout to protect the wall that denies entry.
The door slowly opens, presenting a kitchen filled with whatever is required. A pantry with shelves of ingredients to select, tools for mixing and receiving, and an oven to bring it all to completion.
The pantry is closed, storing what's needed and what's been forgotten. New items sit in the forefront, eager for use, while sustainable items are safe in the back and occasionally weave to the front. It stays dark within the alcove but opening the door gives light to view the hidden content held within.
Though a recipe lists the required ingredients that promise success, sometimes a little more or less makes the result stand out. A signature touch is all that’s needed to feel perfection.
With all the ingredients laid out on the counter, it’s time to fill the mixing bowl with intention. A tumble of soft flour, a flow of oil, a separate yolk and the rough grain of sugar, ingredients are ready to mix together and transform anew.
Careful folding of the mixture and turning it from every side, it comes together, a batter looking ready to meet the heat.
Poured gently into a pan, it’s placed into the oven to bake.
While the baking commences, another bowl is filled with ingredients to mix. Sugars, color and tastes of enjoyment to complement the baking batter. No one project is limited without room to add more. Loving embellishments atop what is expected will be a signature of appreciation not to be contended with.
The mixed batter comes out of the oven in its new form and cools before receiving its complements. The new mix is placed in a bag to assist the design. The sweetness of what has gone in comes out in small intervals, ready to meet awaiting taste buds with the fullness of all it holds.
Reflective Qs:
Beyond baking, what else could this be about?
Do you ever discover hidden ‘ingredients’ in your ‘pantry’ when you decide to try something new?
How do you place signature complements onto your creations?
Do you feel ready to experience the fullness of all that your life holds?

Author’s Note: I started this piece thinking about an experience of self-doubt. If every experience was like a recipe to bake, I imagined the many parts that get mixed into the full experience. Sometimes a whole experience comes to completion with sets of small intervals that give it meaning.
