Positivity and Optimism

Positivity isn't about never feeling or recognizing the negative. I’ve learned that being positive is about acknowledging the negative, looking at the big picture and recognizing negativity's interaction with its counterpart to search for balance. It's working to attach myself to neither so I can more easily flow with the changes.

Being positive is choosing to believe in the counterpart when I face negativity and fighting to keep faith when I don't yet understand what is going on. It’s about accepting what happens, trusting that it is part of something more and choosing to patiently discover the experience as life is evolving. Accepting that I’m in the situation to learn helps me to let go of what I thought should be, not judge what I thought was negative and be objective to learn from the experience.

Optimism isn’t only about believing in what I consider the best possible outcome. I’ve learned that being optimistic is the ability to keep faith during trying times and keep searching for hope. It's about placing trust in the balance of the world, accepting what is happening and choosing to be patient as processes play out. It's about believing in balance without expectation and allowing what needs to happen to happen.

In life, whether facing the good or bad, it's easy to get caught up in one part and forget the other. Forgetting to acknowledge the other side, I add to an imbalance I don't realize that I'm creating. In my experience, I've noticed that unpleasant situations tend to happen at times when I am not conscious of everything. I end up being grateful for the challenge because they help me to realize that I’m not on track and give me reason to reassess the situation to get back on track.
