Growing From What Was

There's no reason to believe that what has passed should be forgotten. Though some past events feel easier when left untouched, what of the opportunities it still holds for you?

Imagine yourself as having started as a seed encased in a shell, buried in the soil. As you grew, you shed the shell and went beyond. Though you did leave the shell behind, it dissolved into the soil to further care for you as you grow. As a plant reaching for light, you encounter different stages and circumstances to grow from. What you felt when you first emerged from the soil seems different as you're holding up flowers for bees to feed upon. The windy rainstorm that chilled you is remembered differently on a hot,  dry day without weeks of rain. The memory of hands planting you in soil is different than the noses that sniff your flowers or the scissors that cut a stem. The goal to reach for light feels different when you're heavy with flowers to offer. Whatever you felt then feels different today and you are different now.

In Life,  we tend to be driven to accomplish goals and think that what has passed is meant to stay behind us. We forget that the growth process is continuous and that any difference can offer a new lesson. To revisit old wounds isn't intended to torture us with the feelings we've held, it's meant to help us to see how we've changed and get aligned with who we are today. Find out what caused your hurt back then, perceive it with your knowledge today and transition into how you feel about it now. Did you miss a piece back then when your emotions were triggered? Do you see now why it's not worth holding onto? Is it possible that the lesson learned is more valuable now than it could've been then? Remember that everything about you gets recycled into your self-care. Don't be afraid to recognize more ways to grow who you are, even if it feels like old news you'd rather forget.
